November 2017 Medina Messenger

As we enter the month of November, we celebrate Veterans Day and acknowledge the sacrifices all veterans have made for our country. In that same spirit of gratitude, we also celebrate Thanksgiving this month. This continues to be a day for us to come together around the table with our friends and family, to celebrate each other and express appreciation.

While it is truly an honor that I regularly appreciate, I would like to take this opportunity to share my gratitude to you for allowing me to serve as your Assembly representative. As always, if you have comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Military Appreciation

Established in 1993 by the Armed Services YMCA, Military Family Appreciation Month is observed every November to honor and recognize military families for their contributions, service and sacrifices.

The direct service comes from soldiers across the nation, however the families of these soldiers make tremendous sacrifices — from moving frequently, dealing with long stretches of time without family, and sometimes, the ultimate sacrifice of losing loved ones. We thank all of our military families for their contributions and sacrifices.

Veterans Day
During this month we also give thanks for the brave veterans themselves. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11th as Veterans Day. We celebrate this holiday as a tribute for all of the sacrifices and contributions made by members of the armed services. We thank and appreciate the patriotism and service of the men and women who come from all different walks of life to defend these United States.

I wish you and your families a plentiful and happy Thanksgiving. I also hope to see our community unite and share with one another. In this spirit, we are donating $500 to Salvation Army in Moreno Valley, and I have also partnered with Sysco to donate 100 turkeys to “Operation Gobble Gobble”. This donation will provide a family in need with a meal during the holiday season.
