Medina’s Bills Prioritizing Education Head to Governor’s Desk

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside) announced that his legislative package focused on education passed the Legislature and awaits the Governor’s signature. 

“As Chair of Assembly Higher Education Committee and a former Community College trustee, it is a privilege to continue improving conditions for both educators and the students they teach.”
  • AB 1690 – Part-Time Faculty: the first of its kind in the country, this bill recognizes the importance of part-time faculty at California Community Colleges by providing landmark measures to improve their employment stability.

  • AB 2069 – Part-Time Faculty Office Hour Reporting: increases student success by requiring that Community College Districts report part-time faculty office hours.

  • AB 2259 - Dropout Recovery Schools: extends the sunset on dropout recovery high schools to apply for certification.

Assemblymember Medina proudly represents California’s 61st Assembly District, which consists of Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Perris.
