Assemblymember Medina Statement on New CSU Chancellor

SACRAMENTO, CA— Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, released the following statement on the announcement that Joseph I. Castro will succeed Timothy P. White as chancellor of the California State University:

“I am thrilled to congratulate Joseph Castro on his appointment as chancellor of the California State University, making him the first California native and first Mexican American to oversee the 23 campuses. I’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with Dr. Castro during his tenure as president of Fresno State University and greatly admire his strong leadership and passion for promoting diversity and equity at the campus. I know he will continue to be a champion for students as he assumes the role of chancellor and look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”
