SACRAMENTO — Today, Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), the Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, released the following statement on the resignation of California State University Chancellor Castro:

“The initial allegations that were published two weeks ago in USA Today were troubling. At that time, I called for an immediate investigation to shed light on the allegations and to determine whether then-Fresno State President Castro had taken the proper course of action. After the CSU Board of Trustees meeting yesterday, Castro resigned as Chancellor. I am glad that there was accountability in this specific situation but must have accountability going forward. This session, I am introducing legislation to strengthen Title IX and ensure that previous responses to Title IX are considered when selecting leaders of our public university segments.”
