SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), the Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, released the following statement on Governor Newsom’s May Revise of the 2022-2023 Budget:

“The budget surplus this year went well beyond our expectations. I am happy to see the Governor’s commitment to housing, public health, economic recovery, reproductive rights, and tackling inflation. However, this is the year we must truly invest in California’s values. Over the rest of session, I will continue to advocate for debt free college and to right historic inequities—especially across regions such as our Inland Empire and Central Valley. I look forward to upcoming conversations with the Legislature to make 2022 a year of historic and unparalleled change.”
