Assemblymember Jose Medina Responds to UCOP Apology for Audit Interference

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, released the following statement after the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) admitted to interfering during a recent State Auditor investigation.

“I appreciate the Office of the President’s admittance to wrongdoing, and I accept President Napolitano’s apology for the interference that occurred during the State Auditor investigation.

As Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, I believe it is important to move forward, both for the good of the UC as well as the State of California. I will continue to work to improve the relationship between UC and the legislature, and to ensure transparency and accountability within the UCOP.

I support President Napolitano as President of the UC System, and I have confidence in her leadership.”

Assemblymember Medina proudly represents California’s 61st Assembly District, which consists of Riverside, Moreno Valley, and Perris.
