Assemblymember Jose Medina Responds to UCOP Audit Findings

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, released the following statement after the publication of the State Audit Report on the University of California Office of the President (UCOP).

“I am deeply troubled by the findings in the California State Auditor’s report of the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) issued this morning.

The lack of transparency to both the Board of Regents, who is governed to oversee the UCOP on behalf of the public, is indefensible and calls the University of California leadership into question.

In the interest of transparency, the Assembly Higher Education Committee, which I chair, the Assembly Joint Legislative Audit Committee, and the Assembly Budget Subcommittee 2 on Education will conduct an oversight hearing to delve deeper into the report findings.”
