SACRAMENTO— Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside) released the following statement on the University of California’s announcement that it will not take up a vote on in-state tuition increases at the May meeting of the UC Board of Regents:

“I am glad the UC has decided to postpone its vote on tuition increases until we know the outcome of the final budget. I am opposed to tuition increases at the UC and CSU. I will continue to work with students and UC representatives to advocate for full funding of both institutions. The state of California has a responsibility to keep the cost of college down for our students, while also providing adequate funding to ensure the long-term growth of our renowned public institutions.”
