Medina Urges Congress to Save DACA

Thursday, September 14, 2017

(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee, strongly supported House Resolution 66, which condemns the Trump administration's decision to eliminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and calls on Congress to find a solution to protect Dreamers, during the HR 66 debate in the State Assembly. As the son of an immigrant, Assemblymember Medina told his colleagues that his father came to the United States to find a better life for his children. "As the Chair of Higher Education, I am so proud that each president of each system has stood up to the federal government and said that we will protect our DACA students," Assemblymember Medina said.
