Joint Statement on the Final Amendments to AB 101

The five diversity caucuses of the California State Legislature—Latino Caucus, the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus, the Black Caucus, the Jewish Caucus and the Native American Caucus—are pleased to unanimously support Assembly Bill 101 (Medina). AB 101 will require high schools to provide ethnic studies starting in academic year 2025-26 and make it a graduation requirement in 2029-2030.

Priority Medina Bills Clear the Senate Appropriations Committee

SACRAMENTO— Today, five bills, AB 101, AB 375, AB 927, AB 1113 and AB 1456 by Assemblymember Jose Medina (D-Riverside), passed the suspense file in the Senate Appropriations Committee, one of the key hearings prior to the Governor’s Desk. These five bills are critical ways in which the Chair of Higher Education Committee plans to build equity, quality, and accessibility across California’s education systems.
